From the

Teacher's Desk

This will be the last week for our Take Home Reading program. Your children's reading skills have certainly improved due to your home practice and then rereading the books at school to students in other classes. With the end of the school year approaching we have many other demands on our limited time, including end of the year tests, graduation practice and Mother's Day crafts. Please continue to read with your child at home. I'm sure they'd love a trip to the Kenmore Library to choose their own books to read. Please return all books on Friday.

The children may bring one item beginning with letter U for Show and Tell on Thursday.  The sentence dictation homework paper will be due on Friday. We will also have Upside Down Day on Friday. Try to think of something your child can wear upside down (a badge or button is an easy idea).

Snacks this week will be provided by Jazlyn, Isabel, Stevie, Ricky and Camryn. Next week's snacks will be brought in by Victoria and Abby. Thank you! If you didn't remember to send your child's snack when he/she was scheduled you may still send it in any day.

We have 2 important dates to save. Room 4 will have a Kindergarten Graduation on Thursday, May 29 at 1:30 in the afternoon; please try to attend. I'm also hoping to have a picnic (our End of the Year Celebration) at Chestnut Ridge Park on Monday, June 2.  We will need parent helpers and drivers for this so I'm sending a more detailed note asking for you help with this event.

We had our Writing Test last week and we'll get the scores before school is out. They are doing much better with leaving spaces between words! The sentences to practice this week for dictation are:

Can you play ball?                  Come and get the pan.

I will be attending an inservice on Thursday so a substitute will be in the classroom.
