From the

Teacher's Desk

Our class will be doing Kindergarten Screening and the state-mandated KRA-L( Kindergarten Readiness Assessment-Literacy) test on Wednesday and Thursday this week. There will be a substitute teacher in the room while I screen each child individually for approximately 15-30 minutes. I will be assessing rhyming; color, shape and letter recognition; knowledge of personal information (address, phone, etc.); counting skills and letter/sound knowledge.  We are sending home a booklet that provides more information regarding the KRA-L test. I will let you know the results of the screening within the next few weeks, generally through a written report.

We will be going on a field trip to Kingsway Pumpkin Farm on Friday, October 19. We'll leave Pfeiffer at 9:30 and return around 1:15 (after lunch). There will be a hay ride, puppet show, animals to feed and pumpkins to pick! We'll be taking a school bus so no younger siblings will be able to come along. Admission price is $5.00 for children and $2.00 for adults. Let me know if you would like to help chaperone!
Thursday is Blue Day (wear something blue to school)
and  Blue Show and Tell Day--bring something blue to share. Thursday night's homework will have 2 parts--a practice writing paper for letter M and also bringing in a farm product (can of corn, leather belt, etc.) The homework will be due on Friday.

I will be absent from school on Friday but Miss Napoli and a substitute teacher will fill in for me.

Please sign and return the Compact for Reading form that is enclosed. Also return the Emergency Card if you haven't done so yet. Thanks!
