Report Card pick-ups were scheduled this time and there is a Conference Schedule in your child's folder. Please check the time and date and arrive promptly. (If you don't see your child's name please send a note so we can arrange a time.) I will be sharing the results of the math and reading mid-year assessment tests.

Please read the attached note about our Valentine Gram Sale beginning next week! PLEASE HELP!

The Home Reading Program begins today (if you sent in the permission slip!) Please try to return the books in the ziplock bag the next school day. There is a recording sheet in the bag; write the title of the book and sign that you've listened to your child read the book to you. I am sending home very "easy" books for the first week to get your child used to the program and reading with you. The level of difficulty of the books will begin to match your child's reading level over the next few weeks. Encourage your child to point to the words as they read to you. I am also enclosing a reading strategies pamphlet for you to keep.

Snacks this week will be provided by Dougie, Abby, Jazlyn, Isabel and Stevie. Thank you! Next week's snacks will be provided by Camryn and Ricky.

Show and Tell this week will be on Thusday; bring something beginning with letter O.  The homework this week will be a handwriting practice paper, due on Friday.

The Second Grading Period Awards (Honor Roll, Merit Roll, Perfect Attendance, and Brought Up Grades) will be on Friday morning at 8:45 in the Gym.

Next Thursday, February 7, will be our 100th Day of School. A family homework project will be due that day. Children are to choose one item (cheerios, pennies, beans, Hershey kisses, etc.), count out 100 of them, and make them into a design or picture by gluing them to a piece of cardboard. Some suggestions for the design are writing the child's name, making the numeral 100, or making a shape (like a heart) out of the item. Have fun and be creative! Please remember to use 100 of the SAME item--don't mix beans and cheerios into one project. This homework project is due on Thursday, February 7, but you may send it in sooner if you like.

Book of

the Week

It's Groundhog Day!

If you have about 20 extra minutes when you drop the children at school you could help listen to our readers first thing in the morning. I'd appreciate the extra help!

Special

Thanks
