Teacher's Desk

Congratulations to December's Good Citizens, Josie and Steven! We're proud of you.

We'll be working on our Mid-Year Math Assessment this week. Show and Tell this week will be on Thursday. Your child should bring something beginning with letter K. Homework will come home on Thursday and will be due on Friday.

We'll have a Hibernation Day this Friday. Please have your child wear pajamas or sweats to school; they may wear slippers if they'd like and bring a pillow so we're comfortable hibernating in our "caves".

There is a note enclosed about my Home Reading Program, so please return it if you agree to the conditions for your child borrowing a book. Beginning next week, I'll send home a book for your child to practice reading at home. Send it back the next day (or as soon as they can read it) and they'll get a star on a sticker chart. When they get 5 stars, they'll get an extra treat from the treasure chest. You will be amazed at the progress your child will make when they read for a few minutes each night!

Save these dates! We'll have Report Card pick-up on Wednesday or Thursday, January 30 or 31, from 2:30-4:30. Please try to come in so we can discuss your child's academic progress!

I'm still  checking report card skills this week and will send a note on Thursday letting you know which skills still need to be learned.  I will recheck those skills Friday!

Snacks this week will be provided by Moira, Courtney, Victoria, Justin and Steven. Thank you!

The kindergarten classes will begin selling Valentine Grams in February to raise money for our field trip to the Cleveland Zoo and Rainforest on May 22 (another date to save). A Valentine Gram is a card with a lollipop taped inside. We will need help  in the mornings--selling the Valentine Grams in the morning, taping lollipops to the cards, and sorting them by room number. Please try to give us a hand ! This field trip costs about $15 per student for admission, bus, and lunch and the profits from this sale will all go toward this field trip.

We could use some extra goodies for our treasure--candy, stickers, small birthday treats, pencils, etc. Please consider helping.

Thanks

Thank you to the families of Kevin, Daryl and Jaelyn for the great snacks last week!
