Teacher's Desk

     We still need 3 pound (large) metal coffee cans for a Christmas project. Please try to send one in!

     I've added new cards including your child's full name, address and phone number to the Word Rings for extra practice. Please let me know if any of the information is incorrect and I'll change it.

     Kindergarten will have a Parent Involvement Workshop on Friday, December 7, from 12:45 till 2:15 in the library. You and your child will construct a "mini office" and the kindergarten teachers will show you how it can be used to improve your child's writing skills. Believe it or not, there will be a statewide writing proficiency test for kindergartners this spring and we want our Pfeiffer students to be prepared! Your child needs to be able to write two or three sentences for this test. Please try to come and get some pointers on helping your child at home with writing.

     Show and Tell will be on Thursday; the children should bring something that begins with the sound of F. I sent a note last week about the Family Information booklet (return as soon as possible) and sending in 6 pictures of family members in a ziplock bag by Friday. These two items will be the homework assignment for the week.

     Next week will be the last time I'll accept November Pizza Hut calendars or notes for 120 minutes of reading.

     The PTA will have Santa's Secret Shop next Thursday and Friday (Dec. 13 and 14). Your children can purchase inexpensive gifts for family members. A note will come home about this.

     Our class will have a Santa's Workshop, a craft morning on Wednesday, December 12. Save this date if you can help our children with some Christmas crafts that morning. I'll send a note next week with more information.
